COMMANDS
There are a few commands you should know so you can enjoy SpinDizzy and communicate with others.

Remember that any global can be explained by typing look [global]. Here are few of the common commands:

Text in Bold are commands to type.
Text in red are examples of the command.

Editplayer
Editplayer
Editplayer allows you to set your character's description up. How you look, how you smell, how you speak. Just find a quiet place and enter editplayer, and follow the instructions.

Say [message]
Say Hello Argon!
"Hello Argon!

Say makes your character speak to anyone who is in the same room as your character is in at the time.  There are two ways of perform this command, you can either type in Say or a double quote mark " as a shortcut.

Pose [action]
Pose waves hello.
:waves hello.

Pose makes your character to 'do' things. Just like Say, there are two ways to pose.  Typing a colon : will have the same effect as typing pose would.

Whisper [name]=[message]
whisper Argon=Shh!  I'm going to sneak up on Austin!
Whisper allows your character to send a private message to other players that can not be heard by other characters in the same room.

Page
Page Argon=I'm doing fine, thanks.
The page command allows you to send a message to someone who is in another room from where you are.  If they are connected, your message will be displayed to their character while they are playing.

Page #mail
Page #mail Austin=Hello Austin! Can I have a character here when you get back?
Sending page mail allows you to leave messages to folks who are away or offline. It does the same thing as page, except the message is stored until the recipient 'wakes up' and reads their mail.

Teleport
teleport  #1234
Teleporting is a quick way to get from place to place on the muck, if you know where you are going.  It is done by entering the alias or whatever the database number of the room you are trying to reach.

Wizzes
Wizzes
Typing this gives a list of the muck staff and lets you know which is on at the time. It also has a list showing the various staff responsibilities.

Helpstaff
Helpstaff
Entering this command will show you which members of the Helpstaff are on.  Helpstaff can usually assist you with problems you might have.  Always ask a Helpstaffer for assistance before asking a Wizard.

Hug [target]
Hug Argon
Hug
, along with snug, fuzzle, kiss, and scritch, are actions (also called global actions) that can be done on other characters.  The messages that are displayed when you do them can be different for each player. You can enter look hug to get a list of them all. To use them, enter the name of the action then the name of the person you want as the subject of the action.

@desc [object]=[description]
@desc me=You see a handsome Fox, with the usual red fur and white markings. He looks at you and smiles.
Ok, now that you've visited around as a Guest, and gotten your character, it's time to get down to describing yourself. You can do a quick description of your character by using @desc me= Enter @desc me= And follow the equals sign with a description of yourself.

There are a lot of things you can set up about your character. The easy way to do that is to type editplayer and it will give you a screen of options. Read it carefully and follow the instructions.

Building

Everyone needs a place to live. Of course you can rent a room at the Sandcastle Apartments just south of the Rose Garden, but you may prefer to build your own place. There are a lot of vacant lots, apartment complexes, and neighborhoods whose 'owners' will be happy to let you build there.

At this point, perhaps I should explain how 'rooms' and 'exits' work. Every space you enter here is a room. The size, shape or appearance of a room is determined by how it's described. The Rose Garden and Centaur Square look different, but as far as the computer that the muck is on is concerned, they are the same, only the descriptions are different. To make your own rooms go to a quiet place and enter:

@dig Room Name=here
@dig Scooby's Place
When you hit return, you will see a line that says that the room was created with a database number,

Scooby's Place created with db# 12345

Write that number down!
This is the room's database number and everything on the muck has one. You'll need to know that number to make a door to the room later, because at this point, all you've done is built an empty room; it has no doors to get in and out of.

The next thing you want to do, is make a door that you can get in and out of your room with.  To get into your room you'll have to teleport in.

teleport #[room number]
teleport #12345
Once you've created the first room, it can be connected to other rooms with exits. An exit you create in one room can connect to another room at another location. The first step is to make the exit.

@action [Exit Name]=#[room number]
@action out=#12345
After hitting return you should get another message telling you that the exit has been created with its own number.  You can write this number down for later, or just use the exit name to connect the exit to another room.  In order to connect the new exit to a room, you need to have the number of a room to connect to.  You will need to have made the room yourself, or know someone who allows you to connect to their area.

@link [Exit Name]=#[Destination Number]
@link out=#10000
Next you can try the exit by typing its name.  By connecting rooms together you will make whole areas of your own.  Remember that exits are one way, so you will need to make another exit that takes people back to the room they were last in.

Once you have the two rooms connected, you can enter editroom.  Editroom is a program that will help you work on the look of the room.  Carefully follow the instructions to describe it, make and describe exits, set up exit messages, etc.

You'll need to get in touch with who ever owns the area you want your home to be in, which you can do by entering ex here while in their area. You'll see a line reading Owner: Shaggy, or someone. Contact that person about connecting up. (See page and page #mail) Only the owner or a Wizard can do things to rooms and objects you've made. So an exit from Shaggy's area to your place must be made by Shaggy. But you can make an exit from your place to others.

I know building sounds complicated, but after you do it a few times, it'll seem easy. It's easy to get stuck and not be sure what's going on, so if you need help, contact a Helpstaffer, or most anyone. We'll all be happy to get you set up.
