SpinDizzy Muck - What Makes SpinDizzy Special? | ||
|
You may be asking yourself, "What's so great about this SpinDizzy muck?" The answer isn't easy because a lot of things make SpinDizzy what it is. SpinDizzy is a small muck, but has the features and abilities of the larger ones. In fact, players are given far more permissions to build, role play, and affect the muck as a whole. There is a charge for building, but if you run out of "money", you can just ask a wizard character for more. And since SpinDizzy is a small muck, the community is far more coherent and most folks know one another. With a small community, it is easy to make friends and know what's going on. The Wizard characters on SpinDizzy don't wear their administrator status like a badge. They are players and characters that are here to have fun, and aren't looking to be "gods" and rule the world. They take on the Wizard status as a favor to the muck. The Wizards on SpinDizzy are approachable and open to suggestion. SpinDizzy also has a newspaper, @Action News. Published weekly, it is an on-line publication that gives an overview of happenings and notices. Although other mucks have websites, SpinDizzy's newspaper has been published in one form or another since 1998. @Action News has been published weekly since April of 2000. It has become an archive of history and information of SpinDizzy and is one of many of the muck's features. But one of the best things about SpinDizzy is the players. They are a friendly and supportive group. They are always willing to help folks with problems. Like any gathering of folks, there is conversation about real life events and circumstances. But talk about real life and players, the people behind the characters on SpinDizzy, usually is from the character's point of view. The muck also has had a lot of success in hosting regular events, such as holiday parties and celebrations. The Halloween party is a good example of a fun activity, and everyone gets into the act, from making a setting that fits the theme, to everyone dressing up in costume. Events like this happen on a regular basis, and really make it possible to get to know others here. Another thing... iwannatell you all bout how to write good tomnay times peeps dun bother to check thier spellin anna its gettin hard to unnerstand Hard to understand that, eh? We on SpinDizzy are trying to encourage clearer communication. Because we're a text based world here. Everything we do, see and say is the result of someone somewhere pressing keys on a keyboard. Since players 'see' and 'hear' each other by what they type, how they type is how others perceive them. If they type and spell sloppily, without taking a moment to look over their spelling, and use proper punctuation, they appear lazy, or worse, as though they don't respect or care enough about those they are communicating with to give them the courtesy of doing so in a way that is understandable. So put a period or proper punctuation at the end of sentences. Capitalise the first word in a sentence and other words that require it. Take the time to spell out abbreviations, and watch your spelling. This isn't to say perfection is expected, everyone makes typos and mistakes. Just make an honest attempt to communicate clearly. |
